I was lucky to have the opportunity to work alongside Graduate Artists who were on an Arts Council funded Professional Development Programme at the Whistle Art Stop and I was able to see them preparing and exhibiting their work. Lots of times, the artists would come and talk to me about my work, which was really good.
I worked with Helen Pailing and Claudia Sacher – two local artists and talked to them about their work. I also worked with Michele Selway who was from Manchester and she was doing Victorian style photography. I went to see their exhibitions and I was able to find things in their work that I could use in mine. The thing that I learned most from them was how to put everything in my sketchbook like a diary and also how to take risks.
